About AVAVA

AVAVA, formerly known as MIRIA, is a next-generation nonablative fractional laser designed to deliver highly precise energy beneath the surface of the skin.

Its Focal Point Technology allows the depth, energy, and density of treatment to be customized while protecting more of the skin’s surface. This makes AVAVA particularly valuable for treating acne scars, tightening and firming the skin, and creating personalized treatments across a broad range of skin tones.

What does AVAVA treat?

  • Acne scars
  • Early skin laxity and sagging
  • Loss of skin firmness
  • Overall skin quality
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Crepey skin
  • Surgical and traumatic scars
  • Skin laxity and loss of dermal support associated with weight loss or GLP-1 medications

AVAVA is FDA-cleared for the treatment of acne scars across Fitzpatrick skin types I through VI.

What areas can be treated?

Face and neck: Forehead, temples, cheeks, jawline, beneath the chin, and neck

Body: Chest, abdomen, arms, legs, buttocks, and selected surgical or traumatic scars

What is the treatment like?

A topical numbing cream is typically applied before treatment. The laser then creates controlled microscopic treatment zones at customized depths beneath the surface of the skin.

Patients may feel warmth, pressure, or brief pinprick-like sensations. Integrated ComfortCool technology cools the skin before, during, and after energy delivery to improve comfort.

Treatment time varies depending on the size of the area and the depth and intensity of the treatment.

What is the downtime?

Downtime depends on the treatment depth and intensity.

Lighter treatments may cause redness, mild swelling, and a dry or rough texture for approximately one to three days. More intensive treatments may involve several days to a week of of redness and swelling.

Your dermatologist will customize the treatment based on your skin type, concerns, and desired degree of correction.

When will I see results?

Early improvement in texture and overall skin quality may become visible within four to six weeks.

Collagen production and remodelling continue over the following months. A series of two to three treatments may be recommended for more significant acne scarring, textural concerns, or skin tightening.
