Sunscreen is an incredibly important part of any daytime skincare routine, whether you’re spending the whole day inside working from home or basking on a beach near the equator. Frustratingly, it can be difficult to find a sunscreen that won’t leave a white cast if you have a dark skin tone. “Physical sunscreens have minerals that help physically block the sun, making harmful UV rays bounce off the skin,” says board-certified dermatologist Dr. Kiran Mian. “However, they can cause a white cast, as they are sitting on top of the skin.” Thankfully, the best sunscreens for dark skin tones provide ample sun protection without leaving a white cast.
