Dr. Mian here! I hope your New Year is off to a smooth start. This time of year, I see a lot of patients with complaints of not only dry skin, but dry/flaky scalp as well! So I thought I’d share a few tips. Remember, your scalp is a continuation of your skin, so just like your face & body, your scalp needs exfoliation, protection, and hydration as well. I hope these tips help, and please reach out with any questions! We are here to help.
1. Shampoo Properly
When shampooing, you don’t want to apply the shampoo directly on top of your head and rub it into your hair. Instead, you want to move your hair out of the way and get underneath it. With your fingertips, massage the shampoo into your scalp itself to clean the base of those follicles.
2. Use a Clarifying Shampoo
At least once a week, exfoliate with a clarifying shampoo to prevent build up.
3. Scalp Serum
Apply a targeted scalp serum for specific concerns
Apply a hair mask or hair oil every two weeks to hydrate the scalp.
